In the Pikes Peak / Colorado Springs area:

Cheyenne Mountain State Park--‟Discover nature, from prairie to peak, at this 2,701-acre former ranch tucked beneath the eastern flank of Cheyenne Mountain.” Features: 2701 acres, 100 species of birds, 61 campsites, 29 miles of trails. Getting there: from the freeway, take exit 135, head west. Turn left at state aroute 115, then right at first stop light--JL Ranch Heights Road. Follow signs to park.
